...Felicitates Christians on Easter Celebrations
A member representing Odigbo Constituency 1 in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Ifabiyi Olatunji (JP), has called on Christians in the country to live the ideals of Easter and emulate Jesus Christ.
Ifabiyi spoke in a statement made public by his publicist on Sunday to congratulate Christians in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo state on Easter celebrations
In a statement to Christians across the country on the august occasion, the lawmaker urged them to reflect on the values of love, sacrifice, and forgiveness as exemplified by Jesus Christ, whose death and resurrection form the cornerstone of the Easter celebration.
Speaking on the current insecurity ravaging in some parts of the country including Ondo state,he encouraged citizens to use the Easter period to offer prayers for the peace, unity, and progress of the state, and consequently of the nation, assuring that, "the glory of the latter house shall be greater than the former" in Nigeria in a sooner time.
He appealed to Christians in the country to demonstrate compassion and generosity toward one another, including believers of other faith during the season and beyond.
According to the lawmaker “The ideal of Easter is love manifested in sacrifice as this was what motivated Jesus Christ to lay down his life"
"It was love also that made him adopt non-resistance method, even as he endured a farcical trial that led to his condemnation and crucifixion and death on the cross"
"But this turned out to be a bigger victory, as he rose from the dead on the third day, according to Christian tradition and the bible"
“Christians therefore should emulate Jesus by demonstrating love to one another and to their neighbours, just as Jesus admonished his disciples to love their neighbours as themselves".
"I can assure you that, the glory of the latter house shall surely be greater than the former" Ifabiyi asserted
Affirming the power of prayer to a successful nation, United States of America as case study, Hon Ifabiyi Olatunji also admonished Nigerians irrespective of their faith, to pray for the nation and Ondo state, noting that the challenges before the nation require divine intervention.
“We should all also, irrespective of our religious persuasion, to commit the affairs of our nation and Ondo state into the hands of God as in the case of America"
"Though we have many challenges which appear to be formidable, but they are nothing in the hands of God"
"If we pray and seek the face of God, in addition to working hard and eschewing evil, we shall overcome the challenges". He stated
