Following several calls for the removal of Mrs Omowumi Isaac as Ondo State commissioner for finance by some groups including the pro-democracy group, the Concerned Citizens Movement, the Ondo State Elegant Youth Forum,has urged the legislative arm of government in the state to reprobate the decision, saying the Idea was emanated from external forces.
The human rights group in its counter affidavit submitted on Friday through the president, comrade Julius Asonja described Mrs Omowumi Isaac as a dutiful finance commissioner who has respect for rules of law as a law-abiding citizen, describing their allegation as baseless.
The group in a statement also noted that as a member of the state executive council the commissioner embarked on state assignment when the Ondo State House of Assembly invited her to defend the revised budget.
The statement by Ondo State Elegant Youth Forum also informed the citizens of the state and the general publics that the commissioner had earlier this week, honoured the state assembly's invitation to do the diligence after returning from her official trip.
The group,however, urged both the executive and legislative arms of government in the state to remain formidable,saying that the opposition party in the state only wants to use the avenue to downturn the good governance of the present administration in Ondo state.
According to the affidavit "it is very much clear that the honourable commisioner of finance will never ignore the summon of the house of assembly if she doesnt have state assignment that hold her up"
"She has been faithful and focus on her duties and she has been able to respond to the summon of the house and defend the budget"
"She has respect for the legislative arm of government as a member of the executives and appointee of the government"
It would be recalled that some groups suspected to be opposition including the pro-democracy group, the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) had earlier called for immediate removal of Ondo State commissioner for finance Mrs Omowumi Isaac when she could not show up before Ondo State House of Assembly to answer questions on the need for the state hallow chamber to revisit the 2024 appropriation bill.
